Xbox controller keeps turning off

Hey Forum, My XBOX 360 controller keeps turning itself off automatically at critical points during games. Example: Playing Far Cry 4 and whenever I'm being shot at or attacked it turns itself off. The batteries are brand new and currently at 3/4 full but this is happening and it's extremely frustrating. Any help will be appreciated!
